This series explores the hand-painted signage that appears outside of adult cinemas in Manila. The banners, created in collaboration with a sign painter for those cinemas, feature the suggestive titles of Filipino ST (sex trip) and bomba films. The project focuses on a series of transformations. There is the slow closure of these theaters over as queer cruising shifts to digital apps and as cinemas move to malls and streaming services.. There is also a replacement of the hand-painted sign with the digital and machine made. This project highlights those losses and the ongoing vitality and communal pleasure of what remains.
