This series of photographs captures the blood stained walls along the routes walked by penitents during Semana Santa in the Philippines. While other work from the Penitensya series focuses on the embodied activities and devotional practices of the penitentes themselves, including their collective acts of care and self-flaggelation, these photographs shift attention to the traces of those rituals left on the urban environment.
